HI, my name is Myron Cost and as a standing board member seeking reelection, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the overall membership and even to some of the SVS participants that I bench race with at the various events. Like many other local members, I am a very old transplanted Buckeye who grew up a couple of corn fields away from Eldora Speedway and did indeed have the opportunity to race at this facility along many other race tracks in the Ohio/Indiana region. Over the years, I also competed in SCCA road racing at various tracks in the midwest. Having relocated to Florida in the mid 70's, I became once again involved in round-d-round racing in everything from go carts, minicups, mod-lites and in the last four years, vintage racing. I currently campaign the #5, Red, Kenyon, Chevy powered, Midget and I'm in the process of restoring an early 70's sprint car that I hope to campaign next season. Even at my age I still love racing, but my primary objective for DAARA is to maintain the concept of restoring and displaying older racing vehicles and to share this format with other club members and to the general public. Thank you for this opportunity to present my bio.
In 2009 I have spear headed these projects as a board member:
1. I got the modified points seperated from the stock cars
2. Succeeded in awarding points for drivers when they have made the effort to drive the distance to the weekly race to arrive and find the race rained out.
3. Proposed and campaigned for the end to the muligan rule
In 2010 I would like to see the fast and slow cars seperated so no one is intimidated or run over on the track by faster cars, but allow the fast cars the
chance to race..I believe it would increase the car count and the promoters would love it..Being a board memeber to me allows me to work to make things
better for every driver, and improve safety for all..We all put on a great show..Thanks..Vote for me and we will "git er done" !
For those of you who do not know me my name is J.T. Dunn..I was born in Titusville, FL December 2, 1951..My family has been citrus growers here in Florida since 1898, making me a 4th generation Floridain and citrus grower..I also have worked at the Space Center for 20 yrs, and raise Long Horn cattle.
Racing has always been a great part of my life..I was one of the original member's of the Florida Off Road Racing Assoc..I've done a little drag racing, and also some boat racing..But cars are my passion, when not involved in racing, I have been an avid race fan..
My "crew chief" and girlfriend Karen and I have been together for 6 yrs..Most of you have met her, as we are never too far apart..We both enjoy traveling, hunting, shooting, 50's music, antique cars and of course racing, and all the people we met along the way..
I own and drive the #98, it is a 1937 Plymouth modified coupe..I also own a 63 Corvair modified dirt car..
I am now an acting board member for DAARA..I would like to continue in this position..I have served as a union steward, and state designee (which is simular to board position duties) at the Space Center for the past 9yrs..This is also a voted on position, and I have served without any incident..I also deal with theState and Federal Agricultral Agencies, on a regular basis..I have a very calm demeaner and feel that I can listen, observe and deal with situations in a rational way, that is fair, to all of those involved..(If you don't believe me as Karen, I have warded off an argument with her for 6 yrs! How many of the rest of you can say that?)

Thank you for your consideration..David R Cash..Acting Board Member
I have been involved in Stock Car Racing in Florida over 50 years, I would like for your support for this decision to choose me for one of this years positions as one of the board of director. I feel with my years of knowledge and experience I could be a good asset to next years board.
My name is Don Farnum and I would like to introduce myself to the D.A.A.R.A. Club Members. I am originally from Friendship, N.Y. where at the age of 13 I helped my best friend’s father with a modified stock car. Latter while living in Florida I built my own stock car and raced in the Orlando area during the early 60’s. For the past 2 years I have been a D.A.A.R.A. member while restoring the Ron Butler #5 Midget Car that I purchased. I have met many club members who have helped make me feel welcome and given much appreciated advice on the car. I have been active in working with D.A.A.R.A. at many tracks around the State including Orlando Speedworld, Symrna Speedway, Volusia Speedway, Putnam County Speedway, Charlotte County Motorsports Park, North Florida Speedway, and Zephyrhills as photographer, helping with record keeping and paperwork and generally working to promote the club. Now I would like to give my time and effort as a board member. My goal is to promote safety, fairness to all members, to help the club grow membership, and to continue help keep D.A.A.R.A. the best Antique Automobile Racing Association. Thank you for your consideration.
I'm from Lecanto Fl. I was born in N.J & did most of my racing there. I run v-8 stock car #61 & a 6cyl stock car # four america. I have previously served on the board & as vice president. I took a year off for personal & business reason's. I look foward to serving the membership as a board of director in the future.
I grew up in S. Florida, near Homestead, watching my father race TQ midgets at Florida City Speedway. He later served as the flagman. Checkout the great web site designed by Rex Hollinger, Florida City Speedway . He passed on to me his love of both racing and flying. I now live one town below West Palm Beach and fly Boeing 757's and 767's out of the Miami airport to Central and South America. We joined DAARA in 1993 with a Crosley powered TQ and I later bought a Honda powered TQ from Bill Charles, and a midget from Doug Howard, which had been refurbished by Tom Wilkey and owned by Tom Venus. I run the TQ with the V8-60's and run the midget with the hot dog's of the midget group.
I've been participating with DAARA for 16 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the club and the fine folks who make up our membership. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the past officers who formed the club and guided it as we evolved. We have a fine tradition and a fine future ahead of us. I'm running for the board to use whatever talents I've been given to help guide the club as the future unfolds, and to use common sense and my one vote on the board as issues come up that need to be addressed, always keeping in mind the intent and mission of the club, which is to exhibit and safely operate vintage race cars.
